Training the hearts and minds of young musicians

    Welcome from Grace

Welcome to my website, which Bogey shares with me! We're so glad you are visiting, and hope you learn more about music today as you spend time with us. Your parents are welcome to visit, too!

If you have already read A Musical Mouse in a Rhythmical House, then you know that I am a young mouse named Grace, and Bogey the cat is my best friend. Bogey is a real cat that really lives in a real house in Michigan, with a real voice and piano teacher. Mrs. Beckman is just a pretend name for her, but she is a real grandma and a master musician. She has a beautiful, strong voice and can answer almost any question about music. The author of the book, Mrs. Wuthnow, is a piano teacher in Michigan who loves kids and music, and has five children who are all grown up (she will be a grandmother next year!). The illustrator of the book, David Miles, also lives in Michigan and has really brought me to life through his excellent artwork! He had fun drawing me, so you can see what I look like. I wish I could see what you look like! A little more about me, Grace. I live in a very musical house, and I am learning a lot from lessons Mrs. Beckman gives to her students. They are all very interesting people, some young, some old, and you will meet more of them in future books. Besides that, I have many very interesting relatives who love music as well. In the first book, you've met Uncle Rhythmicus, and soon you will meet Cousin Venizzio, my Papa and Mama, and a new someone who lives in the house, Max (Max is not a mouse). Bogey is keeping a close eye on Max. I don't think Mrs. Beckman knows I live here. I can't read, like people do, but I can sing. I keep my big mouse ears open and listen carefully so I can learn a lot! Bogey is a very important cat. He keeps an eye on the household for Mrs. Beckman, but he's a very quiet cat, and keeps his thoughts mostly to himself. When he does let us know what he's thinking, it is always something important or helpful. Often his tail and his whiskers give us a clue to how he's feeling. He is also a very good musician, as you will see in coming books. Enjoy my website! I have lots of fun things planned in the coming days, so check in often. I will also help you link to other interesting and helpful music sites. Oh, by the way, Bogey is the one who is pressing this computer keyboard for me with his paws. I'm so little that even if I jump hard on the keys, nothing happens. (Bogey understands reading and writing.) I'm glad you have strong fingers that help you use a computer! 'Bye for now.
